Trentham Gardens - Playground of the Potteries

£12.99

Trentham Gardens have been enjoyed by Potteries folk since the early nineteenth century. From the 1840s the gardens at Trentham became nationally renowned. The grounds were thrown opened to the public on special occasions - most notably Stoke Wakes Week in August, during which it became a major leisure destination for the people of the Potteries and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

From the 1920s the Sutherland family developed the Gardens commercially. Archive film footage and reminiscence chart the commercial developments of Trentham Gardens from the 1930s to today. A celebration of local people at play – we see wonderful film of the gardens over the decades; the swimming pool, lake, ballroom, children’s play areas and much more – through to the creation of the modern Gardens today.
