King Tut: Tut Whalley - The Fighting Flyweight


Tut Whalley was one of the finest fighters to come from Stoke-on-Trent. Ranked second in the world at the peak of his career in 1939, this documentary traces his professional fights through the 1930s. Tut himself takes us back to his childhood and schooldays and tells how he got into fighting. He talks about his fighting style and recalls many of his fights. His wife Mary gives insight into how he trained and other aspects of his professional life. Boxing author Fred Deakin compares boxing today with pre-war times. Illustrated with many original photographs, cuttings, posters and rare archive film, this documentary is a celebration of one of Stoke-on-Trent's world class sportsmen.
