Fifties Freight

This is a selection of films from the British Commercial Vehicle Museum. These films were made between 1952 and 1957.

THE FISH RUN: This is a detailed look at one of the toughest long-distance lorry runs in the country - from Aberdeen to Manchester via the notorious route over Shap (the old A6) before the coming of the motorways.

FOR EVERY VEHICLE: This is a documentary on the work of the great engineering works of Rubery Owen in Darlaston in the Black Country, at that time in Staffordshire.

THE SCARAB MECHANICAL HORSE: A reminder of that unique concept in urban commercial vehicles - with all the tight-turning versatility of horse transport.
