Letters to Hem Heath

Follow local postman Frank Harris on his Hem Heath, Trentham, rounds during the First World War. This special day he is accompanied by two time-travelling children from Ash Green School, who discover what life was like for some Hem Heath residents 100 years ago.

The people they meet include: Abraham Fielding, a pottery owner; William Mould, a master builder; Hannah Walklate, a blacksmith; George Bickerton, a grocer; and John Brandrick, the local police sergeant.

This project is a collaboration between the Trentham World War One Project, Ash Green Primary School and the Staffordshire Film Archive.

Plus “17 Names” by Trentham National Women’s Register - made in 2014 to remember the men named on the Trentham war memorial.
