The HERITAGE OF SPODE – Archive Compilation

Archive films and documentaries of all the pottery processes at Spode from 1901 to the end of production in 2008Spode Workers (1901), A Peep into a Well-Known Pottery Works (1929), Clay, Hands and Fire (1933), The Story of Spode (1954), Spode - an Introduction (1998), Spode (2004 - final complete film of Spode in full production) , It's Over (2008 - a compilation of still photos of Spode workers in all departments in the run-down to closure), Keep the Flags Flying (2010 - a tour round the empty factory a couple of years after closure), Memories of Spode (2011 - reminiscences of former Spode workers). We come up to date with reference to the British Ceramics Biennial events in the Spode Works and the work of the Spode Museum Heritage Trust.

THE LOSS OF GIANTS – COAL AND STEEL

It’s a decade since deep coal mining was lost to Staffordshire, and two decades since our steelworks closed down. Here we show both industries in full production on film, and chart the fights against the closure of both.

THE BOVEDY ILLUMINATIONS 
A special screening of work by the North Staffordshire based artist Noel Connor. To mark the 50th anniversary of the BOVEDY METEORITE which landed in Northern Ireland in 1969, he fuses sound, poetry and film to create a remarkable testament to one extraordinary day from his Belfast childhood.
