THE HIDDEN VALLEY - Archive Films featuring the Churnet Valley, Staffordshire Moorlands

 A selection of films including: the Caldon Canal before, during and after restoration; 1950s/60s rides on steam trains from Macclesfield along the Churnet Valley Line of the North Staffordshire Railway - with scenes at Rudyard Lake, Leek, Alton, Oakamoor through to Uttoxeter; the hidden village of Consall Forge filmed in the 1960s and 70s; a guided tour of the Cheddleton Flint Mill with Robert Copeland plus other items.

THE HEART OF STAFFORDSHIRE - Portrait of a Village

Church Eaton is a typical rural community of about 750 people seven miles from Stafford. This video looks at the archaeology and history of the village, its cattle, pigs and sheep farming, green bio-fuels farm projects, the artisan craftspeople with studios in the village, the woodsman and other individuals. There is a feature on the Church and the choir, the School, the Village Institute, the village-owned pub, societies and sports activities - and all aspects of community life. Filmed by Ray Johnson, with an update on the Village today

WORLD CIRCUS DAY - Saturday April 20th

This is a review and celebration of Circus throughout the world for World Circus Day, and how the Philip Astley Project has now achieved international acknowledgement for the inventor of Circus 250 years ago - Philip Astley of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. There are up-to-date action scenes of various world Circuses blended with a selection of historic circus films.

STAFFORDSHIRE HERITAGE – for STAFFORDSHIRE DAY

A review of various aspects of Staffordshire’s heritage for May 1st – Staffordshire Day - as featured in archive films by in the SFA collection from the 1920s to recent times.

A NIGHT ON THE TILES

A collection of archive films demonstrating tile-making from mediæval times and films capturing tile-production at various local Tile companies from the 1920s to 1960s – including some new digitisations. Plus new film of making encaustic tiles at Jackman Tile Museum, Ironbridge, and archive of production of bathroom ceramics.
