This collection of archive footage features the best wartime films in the Staffordshire Film Archive.
There are scenes of; the first recruits marching away in 1939, a public information film (how to build an Anderson shelter, blackouts, remember your gas mask etc), ARP activities, a day in the life of Norton School, rationing, Trentham Gardens at War (home of the Bank of England at that time), scouts, church parades, newsreels, a tribute to Baskeyfield VC, local bombing raids, Auxiliary Fire Service in action, Bevin Boys, girls at the Royal Ordnance Factory at Swynnerton and life going on. Local VE Day street parties and Victory scenes, bonfires and and parades on VJ day round off this glimpse of local life during World War II, completing a riveting collection of films of life on the Home Front.
