Archive Films of Winter and Christmastime

This collection of rare films spans 80 years. Family Christmases, snowball fights and sledging, wartime scenes of heavy snows, the foul winter of 1963, rare cinema Christmas announcements, trailers and adverts, Santa on film from the 1920s to today, Christmas lights etc.

Lots of autumn and winter scenes brought to life in moving pictures, enhanced by personal reminiscences and interviews.

And there’s a special feature on the Hanley Babes – the dance troupe of girls featured in Theatre Royal pantomimes, with reminiscences as far back as 1932 from a large group of Babes interviewed at a special reunion in 1998.

It features all their wonderful photos of pantos over the years and shows the last ever curtain call of the last ever panto at the Theatre Royal in 2000, followed by the last ever film of the wonderful auditorium before demolition.
